Dive into Fortune: Exploring the Lady Luck Wreck
The Lady Luck offers an unforgettable underwater adventure as the world’s first casino-themed wreck. This 324-foot-long tanker, with a 50-foot beam, rests upright in 130 feet of water, just east of the outer reef. As you descend, you’ll be greeted by the Lady Luck logo on the ship’s stack, inviting you to explore its whimsical casino deck designed by artist Dennis MacDonald. Featuring octopus dealers, slot machines, card sharks, and even a cocktail-serving mermaid, the ship doubles as an underwater art exhibit and a haven for marine life. Take a seat at one of the tables for a unique photo opportunity—but watch out, your dealer might be a little fishy!
Sunk in 2016 as the centerpiece of Shipwreck Park, the Lady Luck is surrounded by 16 other wrecks, making it a key attraction in Florida’s artificial reef system. Built in 1967 as the Newtown Creek, this tanker spent decades hauling sewage sludge in New York City before its transformation into an underwater marvel. Now teeming with marine life, its web of pipes and towering structures offers divers an excellent habitat to explore. With good visibility and occasional currents, this one-of-a-kind wreck is perfect for both adventure and creative photography. Don’t forget to visit the bridge for a panoramic view of this iconic dive site!
